I want to be a tree....

Taken on my walk with Jeaves from Stafford Hill towards the glider club above Broadhembury.

Washed and wrung out

The sky looks so beautiful, washed and wrung out to dry. So delicate and ethereal.  This evening's walk with Jeaves had a lovely backdrop.

Shame Jeaves didn't appreciate his reflective waterproof coat, with lights!!

Out, wretched cold!

Suffering for over a week. I know it is only a cold but wracking cough, conjunctivitis and utter tiredness do net help. Happily, today I felt slightly stronger and able to take boy out for a walk in our favourite woods nearby. Glorious sunshine helped!

Sunshine lightens my heart

This is why I want to live in sunny climes! England is beautiful when it looks like this. Need to have sunshine in my life every day!

Blackberry Wine (and Rhubarb!)

Yes, no doubt Joanne Harris did influence my choice of wine to try first!

The rhubarb is lovely and dry, very quaffable, and the blackberry is like a nice sherry. Very happy with these.

Fingers of frost tap on my shoulder

Such beauty in a morning frost on a bracing walk around the village.

Birthday celebrations

Jeaves helped me unwrap my pressies this morning!

He didn't understand the fun of 'helping' Steve on his birthday in September - however you can see he is a fast learner!!

A lovely day was had - thank you all for my many good wishes.

PS Steve obvs knows me too well ;)

Harvesting... still!

Final harvest for 2015 gathered in. A fine selection of chillies. Now chopped and frozen. Amazing, mid November!

Uncle Wiktor

A sad goodbye to my uncle, Wiktor, today. A man I didn't know well at all - families can be so strange.

Four years younger than my father, his brother, he died only three weeks after the diagnosis of stomach cancer. Now buried at Highgate Cemetery in London.

Poor Dado. Poor Irena, Wiktor's wife. So sad.

Summer still lingers

What a beautiful day here in east Devon.

Gently washed out summer blue skies with a tiny crumbling of cotton wool clouds.

The village with the church at the heart just visible down the hill.

Happy bunting

Joyful strings of brightly coloured bunting fluttering in a gentle breeze. Celebrating the sporting spectacle of the rugby world cup, making passers-by smile and nod to each other as a small gesture of togetherness at the tail end of summer.

Fruitful and happy (birth)day

Most of the tomatoes have been gathered in today, hopefully to make another batch of passata. Also the remaining blueberries (half of today's pickings aren't shown as they were given to our lovely neighbour as a small thank you for taking Jeaves for a long walk this afternoon!) and a few raspberries and blackberries.

Most of the final chillies were harvested as well as some elderberries for some wine. Need to hunt out more tomorrow to be able to do this.

The weather was glorious today - the final days of summer before the autumnal equinox in two day's time - and George made the most of the sun!

And a huge Happy Birthday to himself - we had a chilled afternoon in our local with friends from way back who dropped in unexpectedly. So lovely to catch up and chat :)

You can't improve on nature can you?

Another beautiful day on Planet Earth

What a beautiful September day we had in central Exeter today!

And then in the mid afternoon we had a Spitfire fly overhead, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. A little high to get a good photo but the sound of the beautiful Merlin engine was unmistakable.

Back at Labrador Bay

I returned for a quick pitstop between office visits recently. I think the ubiquitous ice cream shot is a good way to admire the sea view!

Happy 2nd Birthday Jeaves!

Two years old!

Thank you for the fun, love and joy you have brought into our lives. We are truly blessed :)

And you are an utter cheeky monkey and we love you very much!

The lovely Mr Foxie, a pressie from our lovely neighbours, Henry and Marley, and their humans Helen and Andrew, made it for 10 minutes before ending up in the hospital queue!
